Graston Technique® (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)

Relieve Pain. Restore Movement. Recover Faster.

If chronic pain, muscle tightness, or scar tissue is limiting your movement, Graston Technique® may help you recover more quickly and get back to the activities you love.

At Integrated Therapy, LLC, Graston Technique® is performed by a certified therapist as part of a personalized treatment program designed to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function.

What Is Graston Technique®?

Graston Technique® is an advanced form of Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) that uses specially designed stainless-steel instruments to detect and treat restrictions in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and scar tissue.

The instruments allow your therapist to identify areas of abnormal tissue that may not be easily detected by hands alone. Gentle, controlled strokes help break down scar tissue and adhesions while stimulating the body’s natural healing process.

How Does It Work?

Injuries, repetitive movements, surgery, or poor posture can cause scar tissue and soft tissue restrictions to develop. These restrictions may lead to:

  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Reduced flexibility
  • Limited joint motion
  • Muscle weakness
  • Decreased athletic performance

Graston Technique® helps restore normal tissue mobility by:

  • Breaking down scar tissue and adhesions
  • Improving blood flow and circulation
  • Stimulating tissue remodeling
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Increasing flexibility
  • Improving range of motion
  • Decreasing pain
  • Restoring normal movement patterns

Conditions Treated

Graston Technique® can be beneficial for many orthopedic conditions, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Hip pain
  • Knee pain
  • IT Band Syndrome
  • Patellar tendinitis
  • Hamstring strains
  • Calf strains
  • Muscle tightness
  • Scar tissue following surgery
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Trigger finger
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Sports injuries

What Does Treatment Feel Like?

During treatment, your therapist glides the specialized instruments over the affected tissues to identify areas of restriction. You may feel mild discomfort over tight or scarred tissue, but treatment is adjusted to your tolerance.

Many patients notice:

  • Reduced pain
  • Improved flexibility
  • Increased mobility
  • Easier movement
  • Improved function

after just a few treatments.

Some temporary soreness or mild bruising may occur and usually resolves within a few days.
