Therapeutic Exercise & McKenzie Method® Spine Rehabilitation
Move Better. Feel Better. Stay Better.
At Integrated Therapy, LLC, we believe that lasting recovery comes from more than just treating pain—it comes from restoring normal movement, improving strength, and teaching your body how to move correctly.
That’s why we combine individualized therapeutic exercise with the internationally recognized McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) to help patients recover from spine pain and prevent it from returning.
What Are Therapeutic Exercises?
Therapeutic exercises are personalized movements prescribed by your physical therapist to improve your strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, posture, and overall function.
Unlike a generic gym workout or online exercise program, therapeutic exercises are carefully selected based on your diagnosis, movement assessment, symptoms, and goals. As your condition improves, your exercise program progresses with you.
What Is the McKenzie Method®?
The McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is one of the world’s most respected systems for evaluating and treating neck and back pain.
Rather than simply treating the area that hurts, the McKenzie Method identifies how your spine responds to specific repeated movements and sustained positions. This allows your therapist to determine the mechanical cause of your pain and develop a treatment plan that is unique to you.
Many patients experience a phenomenon called centralization, where pain that travels into the arm or leg gradually moves back toward the spine as healing occurs. This is considered an encouraging sign that the condition is responding well to treatment.
The McKenzie Method also teaches patients how to manage symptoms independently, reducing the likelihood of recurring episodes.
How We Combine These Approaches
Your rehabilitation begins with a comprehensive evaluation to determine the source of your pain and identify movement patterns that improve or aggravate your symptoms.
Once your mechanical diagnosis is established, your treatment may include:
- McKenzie repeated movement exercises
- Directional preference exercises
- Postural correction
- Core stabilization
- Deep cervical flexor strengthening
- Lumbar stabilization
- Scapular strengthening
- Hip and lower extremity strengthening
- Thoracic mobility exercises
- Balance and coordination training
- Functional movement retraining
- Individualized home exercise program
As your symptoms improve, your program is advanced to restore strength, endurance, flexibility, and confidence for work, recreation, and everyday life.

This combined approach is highly effective for many spine and orthopedic conditions, including:
